Hot Lemon and Ginger Drink That Melts Fat

A hot or chilled, soothing detox drink that helps you burn fat and is full of Vitamin C.
Fat Burning Hot Lemon and Ginger

Start the Day Out Right
Every morning in the summer I drink a chilled and blended Cancer Fighting Detox Honey Ginger Smoothie with chia seeds.  Now that Fall is officially here, it’s time for my Fat Burning Hot Lemon Drink.

Dates
As everyone knows know, sugar is one of the most toxic ingredients you can put into your body. I try not to feed it to my family, and have found dates to be a wonderful alternative.  Dates date back to the 5th century BC and are a rich source of fiber and iron, potassium, elemental fluorine – Protects teeth against decay, and selenium, which helps with cancer prevention.  Yes they have more calories than most fruits, but they do not raise your blood sugar levels when eaten.  If you keep to no more than 5 per day, they can really satisfy that sugar craving and there are only the same calories as a large apple.

Here is another recipe with dates for you to try Crock Pot Breakfast Apple Pie Oats.

Keep it Moving
They will also help you to keep your colon empty.  For optimum health, you should be emptying your bowels at least 3 times per day. Dates will help you achieve this. Meat can sit and rot inside you for up to 4 days. And chicken, although lean and healthier than red meat, is the hardest protein for the body to digest. I say, Keep it moving!.

I  keep these dates, little nutrition bombs, in a mason jar in the fridge at all times. They will last for 8 months if they are fresh and a year if they are dried. They are a wonderful addition to anything you want sweetened.

Serve chilled for a refreshing summer detox drink.

Thanks for all the valuable information. I drink warm lemon juice every morning and I love dates but thought they were too sugary. But now I’m happy.

Hi there Monica, like you I’m originally from the UK, but now living in western France for the last 12 years. Can you suggest an alternative to ginger ~ I can’t stand it at any price! And the dates sound like an excellent idea, I imagine they will give a rich sweetness? Cheers, Liza

You can just leave out the ginger. Try putting in a sprig of mint. A big dollop of honey would also be delicious if you like it. I hope to see you again on Going Cavewoman.

Drink one big glass full every morning. You can also have one every night too if can get into the habbit. I freeze my ginger into ice cubes after I blend it in the food processor. Hope to See you again Sandy….

Is a cold version of this possible since i live in hot Florida? will it still work as a cold drink as well?

Yes, cold will work but I would soak the dates in hot water first. Make a big batch and keep it in the fridge. I am also substituting 1/2 tsp cinnamon. I just found a ton of information about how it can help increase your glucose metabolism x20, which significantly improves blood sugar regulation. Hope this helps and I hope you like the drink as much as us.

This is so tasty! I love the lemon w/ginger. I substituted the dates, which I didn’t have for stevia. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your lovely comment. Stevia is a grand substitution. It’s an alkalizing drink, so you can drink it as much as you want. Hope to see you again.

How long do I let the solution sit before the dates get soft or can I drink it hot right then?

Within 10 minutes the date will be completely dissolved. You can just leave it a couple of minutes and stir and break up the date with a spoon and then drink it. I usually take the last inch, it’s mostly dissolved date by then, and top it up with hot water again. I sometimes just let it go cold and then I have a sweet drink later. Hope this helps Tara.

I can’t wait to try this but I have two questions:

What kind of shell life does this have and what adjustments should I make Id I want to make a big batch to last me all week?

Can I also add tumeric to this?

Can I add tumeric to this?

Also, can I make a big batch and drink it throughout the week? What adjustments should I make and what shelf life does it have?

I can’t wait to make it!

You can add turmeric to this and I often do. It is another superfood. Hope to see you here again Gaby.

Hi Monica,

Thanks for this post. I’ve heard that lemons, hot water and cayenne pepper have this way of melting fat off the body, so I will try this recipe out. Just two questions: should I have this on an empty stomach? And how long should I wait before I can eat my breakfast. By the way, I’m currently living in Canada. Cheers!

Hi jill, Thanks for your very good questions.I don’t think anything melts fat, but there are lots of things that can help. Exercise and a balanced diet are of course the most effective. I have mine first thing in the morning and I don’t eat breakfast for at least an hour. I also have another cup around 3pm. It certainly helps to curb the appetite. All the best, Monica

I love lemon tea! And this receipt sounds great, but in the your instructions it does not mention when to mix in the pepper, also the amount of ginger to use.. And do you use dried dates? I did and they did not dissolve? Also with the ginger and the pepper I found the drink good but rather hot, can we use less ginger and pepper??? Thank you…

Everything is mixed in together. Use a mason jar or a coffee cup. If the ginger is too hot, just use less. Make it work for you as with everything in life. You just use your own good judgement. My dates have always just dissolved, so make sure you use good, high quality dates. Not old dates. If the dates are pre-soaked, you should have no problem.
